Lexi
Pet Care Technician
Lexi brings a deep academic foundation and hands-on animal care experience to the Paws Around Motown team. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Michigan State University, where she completed extensive coursework in animal anatomy and physiology, behavior, ethics, reproduction, nutrition, and genetics. Her professional background includes years of experience working with horses, including training, as well as two summers assisting veterinarians in a small animal clinic, supporting both clinical and surgical care for dogs and cats. She is also Pet CPR & First Aid certified, ensuring she approaches every visit with preparedness and confidence.
Animals have been at the center of Lexi’s life for as long as she can remember. Growing up, her home was filled with creatures great and small: dogs, cats, a turtle, fish, pet rats, and even a rescued wild baby bunny. Her lifelong passion for horses carried into adulthood, and today she shares her home with two beloved cats. For Lexi, the human–animal bond is nothing short of extraordinary—the way pets depend on us, teach us, and enrich our lives with their intelligence, personality, and unconditional love. She believes that interacting with animals is one of life’s greatest joys.
At home, Lexi’s world revolves around Flora and Fauna, her two very different—but equally delightful—cats. Flora, a confident green-eyed black cat, loves her favorite toy and follows Lexi like a curious little shadow. Fauna, her vocal and tender-hearted tabby sister, prefers quiet lap snuggles and has even learned to “dance” on cue. Their unique personalities inspire Lexi’s thoughtful, individualized approach to every pet she works with.
Her favorite moments with animals are the simple, joyful ones—playing, bonding, teaching new tricks, and watching pets learn and grow. Whether she’s helping a shy animal feel safe or engaging an energetic one with enrichment, Lexi approaches each pet with empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to understand their needs.
Lexi’s personal philosophy guides her care:
“Caring for a pet means choosing, every day, to offer love to a creature who depends on your kindness — and repays it a hundredfold.”
Fun fact: Lexi cannot—and will not—resist using a baby voice with every single pet she meets. Bulldog with a tough exterior? Baby voice. Grumpy cat? Extra baby voice.
